Brett Bastello

I’m a seasoned SEO with 6+ years experience, primarily in an agency setting. Hailing from New Jersey, I spent the late 2000’s studying business in Pittsburgh. After nearly two years of working at Barnes & Noble: College’s corporate office in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, I was stricken with a desire to explore out West. I’ve been living in Pacific Beach ever since.

When I’m not manipulating data inside Excel or writing Schema markup, I’m out enjoying San Diego’s vibrant restaurant scene or long boarding along the boardwalk. Behind the computer you can find me inside Keyword Planner mapping out a content strategy or formatting PowerPoint slides for client presentations. My favorite thing about digital marketing is that I get to express both my creative and analytical sides; I have an interest in further exploring data visualization and marketing automation.

2020 has been a wild year, full of uncertainty and unknowns.  I’ve used my downtime to teach myself Python – with a focus on Pandas, Numpy, BeautifulSoup, Selenium, and Seaborn – to improve my data analysis and marketing automation skills.

• Reduced the total number of transactions declined from Sept ’12 vs Sept ’13 by 60.4%, and conversely increased the number of transactions per decline YOY by 152.3% through proactive reporting and implementing custom training materials for remotely located Store Managers

• Conceived 4 front end submission forms through Caspio web solutions, created multiple reference documents distributed company wide, and analyzed the purchasing card spending habits of the 700+ stores, all to proactively streamline the ordering process while still maintaining control & oversight in the central office

• Assisted the Freight & Logistics Representative in manipulating Excel reports to lower shipping costs by locating areas of superfluous spending among our stores
